Greetings from the Majicrafter!
I like to make games. Many years ago, I made a game, I coded it, I made all the art. It maked the Majicrafter crazy! I love telling stories, especially science-fiction stories. Now with generative AI, I can use my imagination and writing skills to show what I am seeing in my head as I am writing these stories and I can do it very quickly.
Generative AI and Telling Stories.
Back in the old days, you would spend hours, creating assets and painstakingly anti-aliasing and positioning pixels. I don't see the industry ever going back to that. I predict the future of game development will be in house artist creating art and training proprietary generative AI in those styles, so their graphics team/and or coding engineers can can prompt their game engine to generate those things. I guess you can call me an 'early adopter'.
It's no longer about whether AI will be used but by whom. I predict a very short window for affordable generative AI. I've already seen hundreds of job listings for coding engineers and artist to train AI. Like all technology that came before, someone in the industry will lock it down and your average joe like you and me won't stand a chance of making a dollar off it.
I work almost every afternoon and/or evening on various games. I hope you will like one of them.
Here goes nothin.
My last shot at getting out of the dirt.
